One of my favorite things to do is sit down with a book to work in my watercolor journal. I find it so inspiring to copy from a watercolor artist that I admire. It gives me a chance to hone my skills without having to think too much. There is a reason why art students of old were made to copy master works!

I have been fooling around with the idea of watercolors and using patterns in my work and honestly "I think I like it" Defintely something worth exploring .
I did these two last night in the car while my son had basketball practice. Let's just say that the weeks ahead are going to include me in the car waiting a lot ;) Lacrosse starts next week as well. So I am hoping to get some work done in the process.

Of course we often go kicking and screaming because we are so comfortable with what we already know and love. But I want to grow and stretch and become better. Soooo ...
I have been doing a lot of pen and ink sketches with my fountain pens and new technical varieties. I also ventured out into a new medium - whoa Nelly!! GOUACHE!! Roz Stendahl an artist I greatly admire is a lover of the stuff so I thought I would give it a go! It's sort of like learning to ride a bike. I am a bit wobbly and unsure ~ but I will persevere my friends!
