Charm Me

 

I made this charm bracelet last night from gifts that I have received and have been collecting.  The plastic vintage Cracker Jack horse charms were a bday gift from my dear Judi and the vintage metal horse charms from my other dear Judy - hmm just realized they are both Judy/i 's involved here ;)  the black roses are vintage beads from a trip to Bainbridge Island some years back and the brass charms are from my recent trip to French General.  The one thing I love most about this piece is that the intentions of my friends are within in it and when I wear it they are all with me.  And yes I made something Just for ME!

Oh Buttons!

I have been working with buttons recently - actually no not recently actually for the past 20 years.  I realized as I am making this new jewelry collection that I HAVE BUTTONS- LOTS AND LOTS - uh I just forgot that I was many, many years ago a hat designer and that one of my signatures was to use vintage buttons - duh! (yes I am 10) So after a trip to the garage and carrying up a 25lb bin - voila BUTTONS and more buttons - Jack Pot Sista!



So here are the beginnings of what is to come - new vintage rosaries and newly discovered buttons.

Reverence Jewelry

I have been working on a jewelry collection lately which I have called the Reverence Collection for the fact that these are my intentions while creating each piece.  I have used vintage rosaries, my own photos of special images such as the Guardian Angel Statue at Maryvale, The woods and meadow at Priest Lake, Turkish Evil Eye beads ( to ward off evil).  I have decided to sell some of these pieces on my Etsy shop.

Where am I going?  Las Vegas - and no not for the gambling, nightlife, and etc!  But to see Bette Midler in Concert - LOVE her!  it is my mom's bday present to me - so she and I are flying over for a few days.  I am planning on seeing LOVE the cirque du soleil show to the Beatles music as well, have a spa treatment planned for tomorrow and am bringing my art journal along as well.

Friendship and the blues

My friend Nina told me if I am blue to go and create something - so I took her advise.  My oldest and best friend Denise bought these large pearl earrings from Nina and gave me one for my birthday and she was to keep one - the idea was for me to make something from them so that we would each have one to wear.  So last night I decided to finally make them.  I have had a vintage rosary laying on my desk for some time now and it called to be a part of this twin.  So I deconstructed it and each half has its home in our necklaces.  I made them different but similar because that is who we are - very different but shared in spirit and in love.  It is up to her to choose which one calls to her and I will take the other.  Ironic that the rosary was blue?  But they are not imbued with sadness but hope and knowing that I am loved.

Friends of a Feather Nest Together

The evening of the gallery opening my darling Judi presented me with a little pale blue box which held this lovely home charm by Sally Jean as a gift ~  last night I used the teachings of my dear Nina to create silver knots along with some luscious butterscotch jade to create a necklace fitting to hold this treasure.  One side says "nest" the other side "home"  Lucky for me my nest has grown to include many like feathered friends.  I am blessed with so many.
