This class will cover it all from start to finish.

Now, How do I put this all together?  Collage? Mixed what?

By the time you reach this point you will be comfortable and ready to express yourself confidently!

 

WHEN: March 1

HOW LONG: 5 weeks (but the class will remain up for for 12 weeks)

WHAT IT INCLUDES:

Each week you will receive video lessons, an assignment, image resources and links.  

You will also have access to a private Facebook Group where you will be part of a community, be able to ask questions, and share your work.

You can submit your work for a private critque by me via email and get personal feedback.

 

WEEK 1: Materials in Detail ~ what to get and what not to                 and where to find them.

WEEK 2: Composition, Color and Design ~ How to set up a page, what looks good and why and what colors to choose.

WEEK 3: Drawing~ how to begin, pencil, pen, sketching, and adding details

WEEK 4: Painting~ acrylics and watercolors, laying down backgrounds, blocking colors, and adding details

WEEK 5: Putting it all together!~ collage, journal pages, and mixed media

Don't know who he is?  You need these books - they will change the way you draw, the way you think, and especially the way you see!

 

 

What's your favorite FLAVOR?

 

A "sketch" is quick small strokes with a pen or pencil

like this:

 

 

a "contour" drawing is using long continuous lines and basically creating the outline of an image

like this:

both are great ways to draw

with the sketch you can feel and form the shapes of your object whereas with the contour drawing you see and draw your outlines which creates a more organic and less accurate line.  

 

They each have their own personalities and flavor!

 

I like to "sketch" with a Rotring Art Pen with a Fine Sketch Nib or a Noodler's Sketch Pen filled with Noodler's Bulletproof Black Ink.

I prefer a micron .005 pen when I do a contour drawing.

Eye Candy, Oh My!

I love magazines!

.... the look, the feel, the new smell!  I am a glutton.

Do you get smitten with the eye candy and make a stack?

Do you feel guilty when you leave the store and realise that you have spent a gazillion dollars on MAGAZINES!

To ease my guilt I try to repurpose them!

So try this ~  indulge yourself with a cup of tea or a glass of wine and site down with your lovelies and savor the deliciousness of them and THEN...

Tear out all the pages that call to you.

Make yourself a nice little stack of images.

I keep mine in a drawer in the studio and when I need some inspiration or don't know where to start I just grab one and get painting.

It kills the I don't know where to begin and you get a little bit more for your dollar!

and by the way if you are wondering what mags have the best images in my opinion ....

Sweet Idea #1 - Image Mash Up

Mash Up your Images!

• print out and image from Pinterest in black and white (as long as this is for your own journal and not for resale using these are fine)
• Print images on "matte" photo paper *note* this is NOT matte FINISH it is matte paper - this can be found at staples or office supply stores - I use Kodak as it it is thin and inexpensive
• adhere image in your journal
• using watercolor "lightly"  color in areas of the image - you want to use very little water and a light touch ~ watercolor pencils work great too
• using a fine tipped waterproof ink pen such as a micron outline areas of the image
• use words, quotes or poems and write on parts of the image
