wow. congrats on your 500th post. these journaling gloves are so cool (I mean great)! I would adore to be the proud winner and be able to wear them while I'm journaling. gets pretty cold here in Saskatchewan, Canada, but even for a chilly corner in the house. hoping my location is not a problem : ) just let me know if is.
Snow is blanketing Denver today. With the snow comes a silence...a stillness...that allows me to start my day with such clarity. Elsa and Lucas are
snuggled next to me, their breath warming my cheeks. Handmade quilts that seem to have a spirit all their own are covering us, keeping us safe in a sense. Our cats, Fiona and Bona, are nestled against our legs. As Elsa and Lucas are opening their eyes, they are simultaneously smiling. It is comforting to realize that they are so full of love and beautiful energy that they, upon waking, are already beaming with happiness!
We make our way downstairs. Our home is small...but oh, so cozy! And I think of how blessed we are to have shelter...a refuge.
We sit down to bowls of steaming oatmeal covered in layers of honey, almonds, raisins, and coconut! Soul-satisfying food!
I'm listening to Elsa and Lucas talk about the birthday cards they are going to create for their friend's big day this weekend. I realize that it is only the start of my day and I already have such a joyful heart!
WOW - GREAT GIVEAWAY PRIZE! (I too live in Colorado and am cold enough even in the summer to think these are about the best prize ever!)
What has given me joy today so far?
Hearing the water boil in the teakettle before breakfast and listening to Sebastian's just turned 7 chatter about this, that, and the other - tunnels in the sand he is digging with his friends, and how he thinks the weather today is perfect...
Riding to the market in the rain/snow/sleet on my bicycle, a little chilly still in my cozy red sweatshirt, but oh so happy to be pedaling.
Talking with Angela about the articles I'm finishing up for Pasticcio, and thinking about how fun it will be for people to be able to have copies in a few weeks, and hearing that her son is learning the hardware store business from his dad.
Gathering up everything I can part with to share with a woman who is starting life over here with NOTHING.
Thinking about some gifts I'm making for the holidays (and wishing I had the knitting gene!!)
Knowing I will be making enchiladas for supper, and before bed I will be hearing my husband read a chapter from the latest in a seies he has been reading aloud to me.
I feel joy at being alive to see another days beginning and end...
Baking chocolate chip cookies for my daughter to take to school tomorrow for her 11th birthday. What really makes me joyful is my range that has two ovens in it so I can bake 3 trays at a time! Love how the house smells right now. I like that the kids will drift off to sleep tonight to the smell of the cookies. Would love to win the gloves for my daughter, she loves to journal and she is one of those people who are cold all the time. We had a nice warm up here in Northeast Ohio today, but it won't last. Thanks for the chance!
Seeing the sparkle back in my boys eyes after days of a fever and cough! Healthy, mischievous, sparkling eyes! There is no more joy in the world than that!
Congrats on your 500! Today I had a very special joy- I took my class of preschoolers with autism to the pumpkin patch. There was this huge trampoline thing and we jumped and laughed and play together on it. Pure connection. Priceless.
Aaaah - I love to focus on joy - thank you for this post. What brings me joy today - hmmm, a youtube video I saw about the Beckoning of Lovely. Brought tears of joy to my eyes. And the smell of the pumpkin chocolate chip muffins for the neighbor boy's 4th birthday. And the fall leaves, and, and, and - I'm very joyful today :)

Congrats on number 500 ... such an amazing job filling the world with JOY.
The simplest things give me JOY:
Being a Muse for my friends ...
Seeing those friends grow and succeed ...
Creating and sharing with those in need ...
Everyone has a story ... my JOY comes from bringing theirs to life.
Here's Three Quotes that make me smile ...
To be a person is to have a story to tell. —Isak Dinesen
Storytelling is a form of ... immortality. —Studs Terkel
There is no agony like bearing an untold story inside of you. —Maya Angelou
Have a JOYFUL day!
