Yesterday was a Judi and Judy day as in Delgado and Wilkenfeld.  And oh what a day and night we had ... first a trip to China Town and then to Judi's fabulous

We got to our beloved Priest Lake, Id on Sat. and have been enjoying the beauty, peace and bliss.  I love to  watercolor journal when and I am here.

It's Official

We have decided to move into our beach house for at least the next year full time.  The furniture is moved and we are nearly unpacked.  The studio is another matter all together and I am planning on finishing that this week - please ask the Gods to smile upon for this is a job I hate - yes hate and need all the push I can get.  Anyone want to come out and help me ;)  I can offer you boys fighting, animals under foot, and mayhem - sounds tempting I know ;)  Anyway, I digress, we are in and I have been nesting with the help of my dear dear Judi who has come to add her touches of lovliness and undying support.  Here are some pics of the spaces I am growing to love.

 

True Love

Everyone should have a friend like this!  Judi came over to help me move in my studio (more to come on this) Friday and brought me this wrapped package - alas inside was this treasure - a leather bound handmade journal embellished with turquoise that she had created just for me!  I am so blessed to have such an amazing friend.  And on top of that she basically moved my whole studio for me and that my friend is TRUE LOVE.

ARTFEST 2010 ~ I will be teaching :)

I am happy to announce that I will be teaching at ARTFEST this year! 

I feel very honored to be accepted into such an esteemed group of artists and hope you will join me in March 2010 in beautiful Port Townsend, Washington.

Story Painting w/Punch

Every picture tells a story. Most of us take photograph after photograph of statues, buildings, trees, etc. etc. etc. ~ basically anything that catches our eye. And they all have stories. My quest is to combine my loves of photography and painting into a piece of art that blends the two to tell a story with purpose and passion. The evocative nature of black and white photographs allows the viewer an intimacy with the image that color does not. Using this as our focal point we will introduce color and design elements to create pure emotional context. We will create a story on canvas using the mystery of the b/w image. In this class you will learn how to integrate your photographs within a painting while learning a variety of quick and easy background and detailed painting techniques. We will explore the elements of color, design and contrast that will give your paintings PUNCH! You will leave with a finished painting and a virtual toolbox of skills that can be used in all of your work.

No Prior Painting Experience is Necessary

We all have those special animals in our life that complete our hearts. Whether they are the ones that live in our homes or the ones that live in the wild that we connect with on a soulful level. Many of us can connect to these creatures on the deepest level of our being. They are our companions, friends, guides and inspiration. In this class we will learn a process of steps to take a photograph to a finished painting that captures the essence and personality of these spirits. These skills will apply to any subject – animal, still life or landscape. You will learn where to begin, how to lay down a sketch, color blocking, background and finished details.

No prior painting experience is required.
