Self portrait work has always been important to me. I started when I was a photography student at 16 and have never stopped. For me it offers a different perspective unto myself. I think it is very necessary work one that enables a person to look deep down within themselves and take a good look. It is not a question of vanity but of curiosity ... a desire to delve within. These are a few a took last night in my painting studio with one of the paintings I am working on - altered in photoshop - Now I want to do some journal work with them.

The photoshop touches are very cool as well. I love the background in the last of the three and how its bright colors somehow draw me back to the eye...

wow. These are amazing. They could grow to become whatever...and definitely journaling. I agree with Kim - they blow me away!

they're very cool, gina. provocative and engaging. self-portrait work is my favorite. i've currently been devouring several books on the subject and doing quick ten minute portraits with pencil.
