Ever heard of John O'Donohue? I hadn't until this past weekend and am very glad that I did - he was an Irish priest/poet/philosopher/mystic who died this past January at 52 in his sleep. He speaks of beauty, our relationship to our landscape, and the soul. He has many books out and his latest "A Book of Blessings" has just been released. You can follow this link to listen to his last interview and him reciting some of his blessings. It is worth the listen.
A celtic blessing
On the day when the weight deadens on your shoulders and you stumble
May the clay dance to balance you
And when your eyes freeze behind the grey window
And the ghost of lost gets into you
May a flock of colors indigo, red, green and azure blue
Come to awaken in you a meadow of delight
When the canvas frays in the karuk of thought
And a stain of ocean blackness beneath you
May there come across the waters
A path of yellow moonlight to bring you safely home
May the nourishment of the earth be yours
May the clarity of light be yours
May the fluency of the ocean be yours
May the protection of the ancestors be yours
And so may a slow wind work these words of love arround you
an invisible cloak to mind your life
I need some comfort this evening - Hope it brings some to yours as well.
That's the truth; just what you need.
Much love.
